this collection grew from a seed that was planted in my mind a year ago.
i was sitting with my tree friend george, sharing tea, when i poured us both a cup and realised something. i like my tea warm, but trees are used to drinking cold water. pouring hot tea onto their roots and the soil around them might hurt them and other little beings who live there. the tea needed to cool first. and for that, it needed a different vessel.
every piece in this collection was shaped with this in mind. each set contains one bowl for a human and one for a tree. yours is shaped to be held in your hands and hold the warmth of the tea for a little while. the tree bowl opens wide and low, letting their tea cool while you drink yours.
these are not just tea vessels. they are an invitation to slow down, to pour with intention, and to share a moment with the more-than-human world.

the ideas for this project took root during my time at manoir de la moissie. this is where i met my cedar friend george in 2024, during my first artist residency. in 2025 the seed for these pieces was planted, when i returned for a short visit. last april i came back for my second residency to film these pieces and their stories. thank you to all humans and more-than-human beings who i've spent these moments with and who have helped bring this project to life.
