tea with trees - set 4
tea with trees - set 4
Description
a set for brewing and sharing tea between two humans and a tree.
the pieces were made from red clay. after firing they were soaked in black tea, to add a subtle darkness – deepening the colour.
the dark brown glaze carries subtle patterns, formed during firing. the rims on every piece follow the texture of tree bark.
the set contains a gaiwan for brewing, two cups so you can invite a human friend, a bowl for your tree friend, and a small plate for presenting your tea leaves or leaving a small offering.
your cups curve up and inward, holding warmth. the tree bowl opens wide and low, letting their tea cool as you drink yours.

Care
Everyday care
- Hand wash with warm water and a mild soap; avoid harsh or abrasive detergents..
- Rinse and dry thoroughly after each use. Do not leave to soak or air dry wet.
- Dishwasher and microwave use is not recommended, as repeated heat cycles can affect the glaze over time.
Natural variations
Because these pieces are handmade, small natural irregularities in texture, colour, or surface detail are normal and part of what makes each piece unique. Photos are taken in natural light to represent colours as accurately as possible, though pieces may appear slightly different in person.
Some pieces feature crackled glaze, pinholes or areas where the glaze sits more thinly over the clay. This is a characteristic of the firing process and the handmade nature of each piece.
A note on durability
Stoneware is dense and durable, while earthenware is a little more delicate by nature. Like all ceramics, both can chip or crack if dropped or knocked against hard surfaces. With gentle care, they'll serve you well for a long time.
